The American Association of Blood Banks (AABB) is an international not-for-profit association focused on the practice of transfusion medicine and related biological therapies. AABB develops standards, accreditation, and education to improve patient care and safety.
National Glaucoma Awareness Month is celebrated in January to support education, screening, and research about glaucoma— a group of diseases which can damage the optic nerve and cause impaired vision or blindness. Prevent Blindness America is a volunteer eye health and safety organization with the mission to "prevent blindness and preserve sight” by sponsoring observances such as National Glaucoma Awareness Month.
Kids' Ear, Nose, and Throat, or E-N-T Month, is observed in February to promote awareness of childhood disorders of the ears, nose, throat, head, and neck. This health observance is sponsored by the American Academy of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery, or AAO & HHS, whose physician membership specializes in the treatment of these and other E-N-T disorders.
"Act in Time" is one of the new programs designed by the American Heart Association and the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute to encourage people to act quickly in response to heart attacks or stroke symptoms.
