Cancer Control Month
April 1 - 30, 2008
Cancer Control Month celebrates advances in the diagnosis and treatment of cancer and supports a public campaign to fight this life-threatening disease. The American Cancer Society, or ACS, sponsors this health observance, and strives to fulfill its mission of eliminating cancer as a health issue. Cancer control focuses on prevention, detection, treatment, and support for people with cancer, and their families.

In April, ACS will work to organize activities at the local, state, regional, and national levels to reduce the prevalence of cancer. These efforts will include:
updated ACS cancer guidelines, awareness campaigns, support groups, educational programs, telephone surveys of health behaviors and practices, and promoting free air transportation for cancer patients.

Vericom can help you communicate cost-effectively with your internal and external customers. Here are some examples of how SoundCare can be used to raise awareness about this issue:

  • Create a SoundView with an oncologist
  • Create a SoundView with an individual with cancer
  • Promote your oncology/hematology services
  • Differentiate your oncology/hematology services from the competition

"The American Cancer Society wants to ensure that people know the facts about cancer, to reduce the risks, initiate early detection, and save lives. Prevention programs help individuals make healthy choices, such as avoiding tobacco use, proper nutrition, and sun safety. Early detection and diagnosis can be achieved through regular medical visits and recommended cancer screenings. For more information, please log onto www.cancer.org."

SoundCareŽ messages can be customized in many ways. If you are a Vericom client and would like to see this message written in the context of prevention, treatment, educational events, or from any other perspective, please call Vericom Customer Relations at 800-800-1090.
