With over 200 healthcare providers, Beaver Medical Group in Redlands, California relies on Vericom's SoundCare on-hold messaging to provide highly personalized communications that get people to register for events, call for appointments, and more. Vericom serves Beaver Medical with SoundCare in 11 locations throughout Southern California.

Beaver Medical Group reaches out and connects with its community on a level many hospitals may not even reach. This highly regarded physician practice gets thousands of calls daily for physician appointments, prescription refills, and medical advice, among others. With targeted SoundCare messages that almost always include calls-to-action, Beaver Medical rarely misses its mark in connecting to its community.

People listen and take action

Two times a year, Beaver Medical partners with the local chapter of the American Red Cross to provide free CPR training to the public. The Red Cross always asks callers how they heard about the program and consistently finds that callers register for events as a result of SoundCare messages they heard while waiting on hold. 'soundCare drives the largest majority of people to these events every time. Of the 200 people who registered for our last CPR training program, 45% came as a result of SoundCare, versus only 30% because of flyers and 25% from newspaper ads," says Marianne Baldwin, Director of Marketing, Beaver Medical Group. Supporting multiple causes

Beaver Medical is able to help non-profit organizations promote their community events via SoundCare. For example, Beaver Medical promotes the American Cancer Society's Relay for Life events, the Redlands Bicycle Classic, and the Highland Citrus Festival each year. "Our community organizations sincerely appreciate our commitment to them via SoundCare," says Baldwin. SoundCare enables Beaver Medical to provide free event advertising to thousands of people who would not have heard about these events through traditional media such as newspaper advertising. 'not only do the local non-profit organizations see an increased turnout at events, we are encouraging our patients to be more physically active," adds Baldwin. "Participants train for weeks before they walk a 10K, run a marathon, or bicycle in a public race."

In the next year, Beaver Medical is focusing on promoting more non-profit functions and will use Vericom's SoundCare on-hold messaging as an integral part in making this community connection. 'soundCare gives us the ability to have a partnership with our community, without it costing us any more money through a traditional sponsorship," says Baldwin. "The benefits to our community and to our group practice are significant and long-lasting."

Communicating vital health education

Tens of thousands of calls come in to Beaver Medical Group every day, and each of the hundreds of providers receives 100 calls daily. People will call when they have a heart attack or stroke because of their familiarity and comfort level with the physician practice. SoundCare reminds these individuals that they need to call 911 in the event of an emergency.

Given this call volume, SoundCare is critical in providing health education. Each month, the health education department relies on SoundCare to promote their wellness classes. Over 500 people show up for diabetes classes alone. "We use SoundCare to promote our weight loss classes, nutrition counseling, yoga, and other disease-specific classes necessary to improving our patients" lifestyle behaviors," says Baldwin. "Our patients and our practice benefit from preventive care, and SoundCare is the perfect tool for encouraging prevention."
